I stopped by today to link up with my buddies at The Primary Peach for Sharing Sunday!
This week in math, we started our Graphing unit...this is one of my favorite topics to teach because there are so many different ways to teach it!
In 3rd grade, we are responsible for teaching bar graphs, pictographs, and line plots. I also throw in other things like tally charts :) Are you in the middle of teaching graphing, or plan to begin it soon? If so, you're in luck because I've gathered together some AWESOME blog posts from some very talented teachers - there are even some FREEBIES!
The first blog post that I want to share with you is from the amazingly talented Jamie at Diary of a Not So Wimpy Teacher! In this post, she shares a fun graphing project that she does with her students. Want to know the best part? She includes the project for FREE! Head on over to check it out!
Next up is this fabulous Charts & Graphs Poster Pack from Deana at Primary Punch. I already have mine printed and ready to post on Monday! I also plan to shrink them down and copy them for my students to add to their math interactive notebook :)
I don't know about you, but I'm obsessed with Math Coach's Corner! She has so many wonderful ideas for teaching math...including this post on Using Technology to Develop Early Graphing Skills. I cannot WAIT to put some of these websites to use beginning on Monday!
Do you know those times when your kids are having so much fun learning that they forget that they're actually learning?! Well, this fun activity from Randi at TeachesThirdinGeorgia will surely cause your students to do this! They get to play with hopping frogs and use the data to create a line plot. I know that my students will LOVE this activity!
Last up is this exciting blog post on line plots from Meg at The Teacher Studio! She includes 3 different activities that she does with her students to practice using line plots. I love the idea of setting up stations around the room - especially when they're hands-on! Head over to check out her post now :)
Here are a few other things that I'll be doing with my students during the month of November. My FREE Disguise a Turkey project is ALWAYS a big hit!! Just click on each cover below to go directly to that product in my Teachers Pay Teachers store!
Thanks so much for stopping by - I hope you were able to find some helpful ideas for teaching graphing! Make sure to visit The Primary Peach to see other posts sharing amazing resources!
