Giveaway Winner Announced {FINALLY} & September Currently

Hey y'all!! Wow - has it really been over 2 weeks since my last post? I am soooo sorry!! I started back to school last week, and yesterday was my first day with my new group of 3rd graders - 24 of them to be exact! I've got a couple of sassy pants on my hands, along with a room full of CHATTERBOXES. Oh my gosh - I've never had a group that liked to talk so much..they're gonna drive me bonkers if I don't figure out something soon. I use the clipchart system (with daily rewards/consequences) in my classroom, so that seems to be working pretty well. But, I think I may have to come up with something else. Do you have any suggestions for getting your kids to SHUT UP listen quietly?!? :)
Well, if you remember, I had a great little giveaway a couple of weeks back for a chevron pack, and the lucky winner was Laura M.! I first "met" Laura on Instagram, and she's such a sweetie! I hope you love your chevron goody pack!

I'm linking up with Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade for September Currently.

I know I've been promising a classroom tour, but I haven't been able to get any real pictures because I couldn't find my camera cord. Well, I finally broke down and just ordered a new one. It's supposed to be here by the end of the week, so I will (hopefully) have the tour up by next week! I am loving my room this year - it's my favorite year by far! Here is an iPhone shot of my room :)

I hope you have a great week - tomorrow is my 3rd day in 3rd grade! :)

XOXO,

  1. Hi Lacey! I found your blog over at Farley's linky. I am loving your cutesy layout!! So colorful and bright!!

I am also loving that I took a nap after school -- it felt basically amazing (except now I'm going to be up all night!)

Enjoy your 4th day of third grade tomorrow -- can't wait to see some more pictures of your classroom. I'm following you now, too!

  2. Just hang in there with the talkers. Maybe they are so smart they have a lot to say {ha}! That is what I tell myself to try and make me feel better when I have groups that talk nonstop. But I know how you feel - it can totally drive you nuts!

  3. Found you via Farley's Currently! Love the owls! I find that chatters want attention, so giving positive praise when they are making good decisions can really work to your benefit. After awhile, they will actually prefer your positive comments and talk less (hopefully). Good luck with them!

  4. Good luck with the chatterboxes! :) Over the years, I've found that playing quiet music in the background is a great way to teach kiddos to adjust their volume accordingly. New Age-ish type of music usually works great for this.

  5. Ohemgee! I'm having the same problem! I have NEVER had so many chatterboxes. My team seems to be saying the same thing about their kiddos. We're wondering if there was something different about first grade instruction. ?? They are a sweet and smart bunch, but they're about to send me over the edge with all that chatter! Please share any ideas if you come across any.

    1. Me, too!! I'm at a new school this year, so I thought maybe it had something to do with that. But I asked the rest of my team, and they said their kids are extra chatty too..who knows! I'll definitely let you know if I come across any ideas - hopefully "Lacey Walker, Nonstop Talker" will help :)

  6. I just found your blog (from the comment you left at A Tall Drink of Water...I love Rachel's posts!), and I love the design! Christi designed my blog, too, so I invite you to stop over and check it out. :) I'm signing on to follow you - I look forward to seeing how your year progresses with your "chatterboxes".
